2003 I decided to attend a block round-robin.
We were 9 participants, each sewing a 30 × 40 cm rectangle.
All noted down their topic, preferences and ideas.
Fabrics were also given and everyone sewed their first part,
afterwards giving it away to the next in line, till,
after about one year, all got back their part plus 8 others.
The challenge consisted of having to try different colours, shapes and techniques.
This proved to be much fun, however it took me a long time combining all parts into one.
I think I succeeded, I like this quilt very much.
A quilt for my father-in-law to his 70th birthday in december 2008.
The quilt was sewn and quilted with machine.
Machinequilting is not my favourite technique, the quilt had to be ready in short time.
Since a long time ago I could not cross rose fabrics without
collecting for my new couch quilt, finally you can see it here.
The quilt was sewn with machine and quilted by hand.
Obviously, I now have so much rose fabric I can sew even more rose quilts :-).
A selection of my last pouches:
This is the quilt from the pattern "Twilight Garden" by Jeanne Rae Crafts,
every month there was a new free block for applique; I began in January 2005.
I always like to decorate a little, so I added some more lines to the petals
and the blossoms, see further details on the other images.
I selected the colors for the fabrics after the edge fabric, they match perfectly.
Of course, I did the applique and quilting by hand.
A first photo of my finished Jane-A.-Stickle-Quilt.
Due to the size of 2 x 2 m, it’s difficult to make a really good photo,
however I will continue to try getting a better photo.
The blocks and the triangles were sewn by hand, the border/binding with a machine.
For better quilting I divided and built it up in quarters according to the quilt-as-you-go-technique.
Sewing was very funny and I learned some things along the way.
The many seam additions meeting each other made the quilting often rather difficult.
Nevertheless, at the end I’m glad that this giant project is finished.
Begin: 31.03.2002 | End: 15.10.2007
This bag was originally only planned as a sample,
however it became more beautiful than I expected
and is now in constant use.
I sewed this quilt for the European Quilt Championships 2006
in Waalre for the theme "dreams".
When I was a little girl I dreamed to have dress
like Scarlett O'Hara in the film "Gone with the wind".
With both handapplicating and -quilting, my most liked techniques,
and a lot of time I tried to make this dream come true on fabric.
Near half a year passed till completion in which I sewed almost nothing else.
To my delight, I was ranked second in niveau novice October the same year.
This christmas quilt began as an exchange on my birthday mailing list,
it is machine-sewed and -quilted; some buttons have been added as decoration.
A present for my parents to their seventieth birthdays.
It is adorned with symbols of their activities in their (rare) spare time and
mostly handquilted, though the border is machine-sewed.
Another present for my mother in winter 2004, wholy handmade.
A present for a quilt friend for christmas 2004.
We exchange packets with "quilty" content every year between a few quilts friends.
This precious piece of handwork hangs above my quilting couch and is richly decorated with flowers and different buttons.
My first machine quilt, made for my daughter, decorating her room.
A little decoration for our main door, handquilted and applicated.
A pillow for my mother, a wholecloth in her favourite colour, white.
The elven-quilt is my splendid piece.
I applicated the elvens by hand, enobled them by little 'stickereien' and handquilted them.
It was made in 2004 and was exhibited in Düsseldorf the same year.
My love for handquilting and applicating arose with this quilt.
